PROPULSID
Propulsid was prescribed for patients with severe heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux. The
drug is made by Janssen Pharmaceutica, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. It can cause
irregular and abnormal heart rhythms, usually when the patient takes the drug in combination
with other medications. Propulsid was pulled from the market in March of 2000 due to the large
number of reported injuries or deaths.
