Talking you out of anything takes energy and time -- so much time, in fact, that bringing along a distraction is a good idea for the arguer. They need to be prepared to watch the paint dry and the grass grow while waiting for your answer. You're proud of that, too -- so when someone close starts making noises that they're going to change your mind, give them a break. Tell them it's not happening -- it's only fair.
